Valentine Michael was far from his parents when the murders took place and was taken care of by his grandparents. He grew up in a much better environment, raised by his grandparents who he would consider his parents because of the love he was shown. His mother, who was sentenced to life in prison, was later released on parole in the late 1970s thanks to good behavior.
