Amazon says small businesses made more than $1 billion in sales on their platform over the holiday weekend of Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
The company says sales from small business sellers were the highest volume ever on Amazon.com.

Doug Herrington, CEO, WW Amazon Stores, say, “This was a record-breaking Christmas shopping weekend for Amazon. Customers bought millions of deals this weekend with many more great deals to come.”
Top-selling categories site-wide this year include home goods, fashion, toys, beauty, and Amazon appliances. Items like the Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick, and Apple Air Pods were some of the most purchased items.
Amazon says it makes it easier for customers to discover and buy products from small businesses.
Amazon Handmade and the Small Business Gift Guide helped put small businesses on the radar for Amazon buyers.
Holiday shopping has seen an unprecedented boom this year.
At least 196.7 million Americans shopped in stores and online over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to the National Retail Federation.
The number of online shoppers grew by almost 17 million compared to last year.
