Joaquin Antonio Consuelos comes from a mixed ethnic heritage
Born February 24, 2003, in Los Angeles, Joaquin is the second son between long-term couple Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. His name is somehow inspired by his father’s Mexican heritage. The name Joaquin is the Spanish version of the name Joachim which means ‘God has established’.
Ancestral heritage
Speaking of ethnicity, Joaquin has a mixed heritage. On his father’s side he is Mexican and Italian while on his mother’s side he is Irish. It is safe to say that while growing up he was able to enjoy all the culture at once.
Joaquin’s parents raised him primarily in Manhattan, New York City. His father is Italian, his mother is also three quarters Italian and he lives in New York. Maybe he has that old New York accent. Pun intended!
Brothers or sisters
He has two older siblings, one brother Michael Joseph Consuelos (born June 2, 1997), and Lola Grace (born June 16, 2001). The oldest, Michael, graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. On the other hand, Lola studies at New York University.
Joaquin Antonio Consuelos graduated from high school despite suffering from dyslexia
He suffered from severe dyslexia and dysgraphia and his parents did not think he would do well in school.
But against all odds and with the support of his school and parents, Joaquin graduated from high school with great grades. He graduated from high school in 2017 and high school in 2020.
Joaquin Antonio Consuelos is a student at the University of Michigan
The University of Michigan announced this in March 2021 Joaquin will participate in their program. The UNI wrote in the Instagram post, “SIGNED: Welcome to the family, @joaquinconsuelos! #NewBlue #GoBlue.”

His father Mark, who was over the moon after hearing the news, responded to the post with a wrestling-type emoji. In addition, Joaquin himself noted: “Super excited to step into this next chapter with @umichwrestling! Honored to be a part of this great program.”
Well, this was certainly great news considering that Joaquin suffered from dyslexia all his life.
Joaquin’s wrestling career has several interesting incidents
Likewise, judging by Kelly’s son’s current demeanor, he may be more interested in wrestling than acting. Since high school, he has participated in various wrestling tournaments and has even won several matches.
In 2020, during one of these games, he broke his nose. Although he won the match, his nose was broken. Kelly took to her Instagram account to reveal the news. She shared multiple behind-the-scenes photos of the match, writing: “You win some, you lose some, and sometimes you get a tampon shoved up your nose.”
As a mother, she certainly worried, but her playful banter can’t be contained.
In addition, there was another incident that caused quite a stir. In December 2019, during one of Joaquin’s fights, his father became enraged and tried to confront his opponent. His opponent had apparently ripped off his hat, which left Mark quite confused.
Mark started walking towards the opponent and said a few words to him until a spectator intervened and pulled him away. As this event unfolded, Kelly, who was also at the game, remained calm.

Anyway, the duo did their best to keep their kids from becoming spoiled brats. All three have done exceptionally well in their academic fields. It would not be an understatement to say that they will also do great in their future careers.
